Intel 64-bit mobile chip?

Mar 11, 2005 3:57AM PST

I recently was informed from a cnet forum member, who believes he has reliable inisder info, that Intel will be releasing a 64-bit chip to their mobile platforms in the coming months. However, I have researched this extensively and found nothing. Furthermore, Intel recently hosted the Developer FORUM where they display upcoming technology innovations and products, and no 64-bit mobile chip was displayed or even mentioned. As far as I know, their Napa mobile platform to be released Q1 2006 will not incorporate 64-bit processing. If anyone has information about an Intel 64-bit Mobile chip, please let me know. Thanks

Pentium M to get 64-bit support and Extreme Edition, Maybe...

The Inquirer is reporting that Intel will counter the AMD Turion 64 Mobile Processor with a Pentium M Extreme Edition, the article is an alphabet soup of potential Intel Pentium M releases and you'll probably have to read it through twice or thrice to understand it all, but an interesting and inciteful read nonetheless:

"Just you wait."

It's going to happen soon, the wheels are turning and the boilers have been stoked for this to happen.

64bit Intel et-al will come close to Longhorn. They always support each other. I myself will be going with Turion. I learned the hard way about bieng an Intel user. Nothing more advanced than MS will support.

This is from notebookreview.com and I have a very hard time understanding the article. It uses a lot of industry jargin, codenames, and apparent jibbersish. If anyone could check this out and give a translation, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks for the link. I am still researching the topic trying to decide the best course of action for me. I want a laptop with scalability/longevity, so I am willing to wait for 64-bit and dual core (if recommended). I had a few more questions I am having trouble finding solid answers to, I hope you or anyone else can help me out.
-When is Intel going to release EM64T for their mobile platforms?
-Are they going to just incorporate it into the Sonoma platform?
-Would you recommend waiting for dual-core processing?
-Do you know when dual-core is supposed to be implemented into intel mobile chips?
-Do you know if the upcoming Microsoft 64-bit OS will have a Windows Media Center version?

Thanks again for all the help.
