Instructions for using Recovery Media Kit?

Aug 29, 2011 12:28PM PDT

Sony Vaio PC VV300G all-in-one, Windows XP. I have the recovery disc that I made when I bought this PC in 12/2004. I want to restore this PC to original state/condition. I have removed all docs and pix from C drive. Anything else I must do before popping the restore disc into the drive? Or will the disc give me all the instructions necessary?

then just following the recovery directions onscreen should suffice. BE SURE that you do not have any USB flash drives etc. attached during the recovery.

Sony Vaio usually installs their system files right on the computer.

If you click on "Start" then "Vaio Central" a window should open up.

Click on the "Support" tab, then "Recovery".

If you have left the recovery partition alone you can also follow the steps noted at this link for a diskless recovery -

Thank you so much for giving me the confidence to proceed. And the caution about removing all USB periferals is well taken. By your leave, I'll write again if I get into trouble. Best to you.
