You didn't tell how you added SATA support to XP or if you looked for a BIOS setting.
Tell more but it could be that basic issue. Past this hurdle are dozens more. I'm sure we can get Windows installed but do you need WiFi, sound and such to work?

I am trying to install XP on a blank partition on my wife's HP ProBook. I get so far, and then I get this message:
"A problem has been detectedd and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer."
Then there's a bunch of stuff about checking for viruses and running CHKDSK /F.
This seems like it should be straightforward. What gives?
