We note it now and again in the forum as well as "How to install XP."
I have a Compaq 5000 AMD Duron(tm) Processor 701 MHz 640MB of Ram . I bought it at a yard sale, so when I got it home a set up I went to Microsoft to do some upgrades and found out it's running a bootleg copy of XP Pro. So now I want to install a valid copy of XP Home Edition. When I try to install it I get the message "Setup cannot upgrade your current installation to windows xp. Your current installation of windows is not a supported upgrade path". So could someone please explain to me what I need to do . I'm on dial up now but I'm getting At&t Yahoo DSL installed today,so I want to start fresh. Please help me ! Thank you for your time.
