Boot Camp requires that the version of XP that you install is Windows XP SP2 and that the install disk is an actual install disk, not a restore disk from another system.
I think the jury is still out on the OEM version issue but an OEM installation disk, XP SP2, will work.

Two Questions:
(1) I'm planning to buy a 17" MacBook Pro and want to run XP on a partitioned drive. Rather than buy a new version of XP, I'd like to use the version that came with my IBM Thinkpad in 2002. The XP software is installed as part of the Thinkpad system disc. Would it still be possible to install a working version of XP on a Mac from an IBM Thinkpad system disc?
(2) I think Mac requires that XP be updated with Service Pack 2. Is it OK to install an older version of XP on the Mac and then update it with Service Pack 2 or does Service Pack 2 have to already be a part of XP before it is installed on the Mac?
Thank you.
