Installing Windows 10 Update ver 1803

Oct 15, 2018 4:53PM PDT

Hello,
I've installed this update 4 times but to no avail. It keeps giving me the message: "failed to install Ox80240034" followed by 3 other tries but with a different error code of: 0x8024200d.
I also can't find this update to uninstall it.
Any help would be appreciated.

I am using an HP laptop Pavillion 2 Duo Cpu P7450 @2.13 4 Series Chipset

Thanks! jnulr

Have You Tried It This Way?

Assuming you already have Windows 10 installed and your term "update" is correct....

First, run the Windows 10 Update Troubleshooter at the link below. (After it's downloaded, double click on the .cab file to run it.):

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4027322/windows-update-troubleshooter

Once that's done, visit the Windows 10 Medial Creation Tool at the link below and click on the "Download Tool Now" button. You'll currently see the "MediaCreationTool1803.exe" download dialogue window. Download the file to your desktop. (It won't remain this way for long as the current version is 1809 and it will be on the creation tool soon. ):

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

At this point, remove ALL USB devices from the computer and temporarily uninstall any third party antivirus programs also. Restart the computer.

Once the creation tool is on your desktop, run it to download the full Windows.ISO file to your computer, preferably in a special folder you create for this purpose. Download the full ISO, (about 3.5 GB's) to the folder. From this point on, you can either burn the ISO image to a DVD for use or you can simply run the "setup.exe" from inside the ISO. So, if you choose to run the ISO from the folder on your computer, simply double click on the ISO folder to "mount" it, then double click on the "setup.exe" file inside.During the beginning portion, make sure it's set to "save all personal files" when it displays such, then let it do its thing.

Hope this helps.

I have an old HP DV6

And once it would not take the W10 update. In my case I knew it was something odd about HP's initial install so I decided it was time to make the Windows 10 install and recovery USB stick then do a clean install. It also gave me back some disk space as the HP recovery system was broken and never coming back. So, small world with some Core2Duo CPU on a HP DV6.
