Installing & Uninstalling Software

by asagil / October 28, 2004 11:28 PM PDT

When I try to install or uninstall some programs I get a message: "The windows installer service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running windows in safe mode or if windows installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance." Has anyone ever had this problem and if so how did you fix it?
Thanks Asa Beckett

Try the steps from the following MSKB article:

Celtin, Thank you so much. I went to the article you suggested and followed their directions. It worked. I was a little nervous working with the registry. I uninstalled 4 programs and no window message. I am going to try to install. I don't think I will have any problem. You are a lifesaver, Thanks again, Asa

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
