hi, i'd be very greatful if anyone has any advice for my prob. i have taken a hard drive out of an old computer as there is something seriously wrong with windows on it and want to install it as an external to my laptop to get the files off. i am using an IDE to USB cable and the hard drive has its own power cable. the laptop is recognising the drive in both device & disk manager but in disk manager it says that it is not initialized.
i did try at the beginning to initialize it but it kept saying that the device was not ready. after further thought and a bit of googling i am now worried to try this anyway as it sounds like it may delete all the files on it!
thanks so much for your time,
tracey
