Office XP is not supported on Windows 98, although in most cases most things work. There might be some particular cause for the behavior you observe, but it isn't clear from your description.

Without any details given (and most likely also with more details) the advice can only be:
Either install Office 97 or 2000 on Windows 98
Or install Office XP only on Windows XP

Re: Installing OfficeXP on Windows 98SE Problem

my pc's OS is Windows 98SE and i'm trying to upgrade my Office 2000 with Office XP. OXP is going on System Files Update and then it stopped. when i tried to run setup again, OXP said:

"Setup has detected that the Office System Pack installation did not complete successfully.

Would you like setup to repair your install?"

when i clicked YES, OXP do the System Files Update then again it stopped.

i repeat the process and this time i clicked NO and nothing happens, the installation didn't continue.

when i looked at the Add/Remove Program Properties, System Files Update is on the list and it didn't uninstall when i clicked Add/Remove button.

So can anyone help me with my predicament?

Thanks!
