Office 97 was created for Win 95, works well in Win 98. I am not sure of the later versions. For Win XP, some people find 'issues'. Perhaps you have to update the program with all the patches in order for it to work well in XP. Try running the Program Compatibility Wizard. As for the error message, what is the full and complete version ?

Even with the full and complete error message there is NO CURE or FIX for this one.

This is something that riles some, but if it works, fine, if not, its busted with no cure. Ever.

If you need an Office Suite today, try http://www.openoffice.org and if you must do Microsoft, then you get an Office Upgrade.
