Installing new HD to Laptop

I am trying to install this new Hd that i just got for my laptop. I have a samsung laptop that came with windows 7. I broke the hard drive that cme with the pc in the first place, so i bought a new one. I installed the Hd to the laptop but now it doesnt [pass the bott screen, or the screen that tells me to push f2 or f4 but doesnt do anything. I am trying to install windows 8 with a disc i have. is there anything i can do to install the OS on the new Hard drive?

What samsung model is it? also is the new hard drive an HDD or a SSD?

Its a np300e5a-a02ub and its a hdd

Well Windows 8 uses the UEFI instead of the old bios.

did you boot to the w8 disc?

Are you using the 32 bit disc, or the 64 bit w8 disc? Did you use the manufacturer's software to setup the new hard drive first?
