Installing new hard drives with cd and Windows 2000

Mar 7, 2004 6:17PM PST

I have installed Windows 2000 on both of two hard drives. The computer will not boot with or without the cd now. The message NTLDR NOT LOADED is displayed and won't budge from there. Any suggestions on a remedy? Also, when installing I did not know the difference between NTFS and FAT. I appreciate any help.

Wow,
That's a mouthful. Whats a Recovery Console?

Since writing the previous message the NTLDR missing was resolved as I was able to get the machine to boot from the cd. I was then led throughthe install process twice. After the second time, I could not bear to it again so I F3'd out. However, a new message presents itself at every start opportunity.
DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER

Also,I am unable to make boot discs because the files contain exactly 1.40 mb and the floppies only hold 1.44 mb and so the file copying doesn't even start because of not enough room.

What gives? I usually don't have this type of stuff happening. I appreciate your input.

The boot disk files usually don't go on the diskette!

Some don't find the instructions on this. For instance the WIN98SE.EXE file, when run will create the needed diskette.

A few try to copy that to a diskette.

Doesn't work.
