The owner had a Dell with an OEM version of Office and they were very upset that the OEM version and license died with the old PC.
As far as I know there is no supported workaround for that issue as the license only was for the original PC.
For now, go install LibreOffice so you can work with your files for free. Link follows.

I am trying to install MS Office 2000 on Windows XP Home OS. Error message 1608 states "failed to locate a valid qualifying product on your machine." Info on the net indicates that you need a "professional OS". I was running MS Office 2000 on this macine prior to reinstalling Windows XP Home on this machine. Any way to get around this?
