installing iTunes

Mar 6, 2007 11:56PM PST

I have Windows Vista on my computer. I downloaded the iTunes 7.1, but when I went to install it, it said that VBScript is not installed, and I need to install that in order to install iTunes. Can anyone point me to just "how" I would go about installing VBScript on my system. I think It could be some $#$% security setting that Vista locks down the VBScript, so if that is the case how I go about enabling it for the iTunes install. or any other procedure to install iTunes

Any help would be appreciated.
thank you

installing ITunes

I have spent some time trying to load the new version of iTunes 7.2 without success followed the steps outlined above C prompt etc. and getting an error message.
Closed down everything and tried to reload iTunes again and it installed and is running OK.
Thanks for the suggestion it was helpful and it appears that Apple still have someway to go to get iTunes installing correctly.
How does the non computer literate manage without access to this type of forum not mentioning the time it takes to sort out problems that should not occur.

Itunes on Vista
Jun 8, 2007 2:09PM PDT

Hi everybody.

If you're instaling ITunes on Vista, don't forget to run ITunes Setup as administrator if you're not logged on as one.
I had the same problem and was getting vbscript error BEFORE vista asked for credentials.
So register vbscritp as shown above and then right click setup and run as administrator.

Hope that helps you, it did solve my problem though.

Installing iTunes Windows Vista

So, I finally figured out my problem with iTunes on my Vista computer. It seems that the iTunes have to live on an external hard drive to work on my computer. When they resided on my C drive, they would never load. Now they're fine and all is working well. I found the info on the Intel web site.

One other thing I would check is....

Make sure QuickTime is installed. I had been pulling my hair out trying every suggestion I could get and on the iTunes forum on apple.com someone asked what happens when you execute Quicktime. iTunes does not crash in Vista if QuickTime is installed.

Very interesting!

I had Quicktime installed, but iTunes only ran a couple times before failing. After reading that I reinstalled Quicktime and launched the full application instead of just the background service and iTunes launched successfully. May not work for everyone, but certainly a nice find. Thanks for the tip!

Apple's instruction
Jul 5, 2007 3:25AM PDT

using what was suggested on Apple homepage worked for me. Just had to press Windows+R to find the "Run" feature that is common on XP. Vista has "Search" instead of "Run." In lets you search for files instead of letting you running things. Happy
