But that was before SWITCHED HUBS. When we had COAX (10B2) and 10BT on dumb hubs the quick upgrade was to split the LAN users over 2 hubs and use 2 NIOs.
Today, you run the server to your switched hub and let it aggragate the data for you.
I'll write "doubtful" on payback.
--> Next, it's rare to find NT 4 capable staff. I could take 10 IT staffers and give them 1 day to add the NIC on NT 4 and could safely bet that all 10 couldn't do it.
To me a sign this scenario is at work on that NT 4 box is that is not at the latest SP.

Hi,
I have a server still running win nt 4.0 spk5 and this compaq proliant ML 350 has only one nic 10/100 connected to a 10/100 3com switch, i just purchased a 10/100/1000 3com (3c2000-t) nic and i would like to know if i add this nic as a secondary in this server if it will get any benefit from this, of course i will also add a new 3com switch 10/100/1000 to my rack and i will connect the second nic to that switch, depending of your opinion, i just want too know if the server will work better this way or if this will create a loop as i was told but i need a second opinion should the server performance will benefit from it and of course the users that access this server ?
Thanks a lot
Ernesto
