General discussion

Installing a program on Windows7 issue.

Nov 3, 2009 12:08AM PST

Hello everybody,

I have the following problem: my system runs on Windows 7 Professional and when I install a program using the default path c:\program files...etc it doesn't allow the program to create it's .log files. If I install it anywhere else the .log files are created without a problem.
If I turn off the UAC it creates the .log files in the default location. My question is: what should I do to get my .log files created without changing the UAC or the folders security options? Does anybody had this problem?

Thanks.
George.

What program?

I had to update one of my install documents for Windows 7 Pro. But without a name, link and details I can't tell if this software has an update.

The program is not important. I'm intrested why the program doesn't have the right to crate it's log files inside the Program Files folder.

thanks

But rights, permissions and MSFT trying to limit what damage a program can do means that some software may need an update. It seems like a bad idea to write files there. You should see this more often with other titles.

It's all about imposing some security.
