Question

installer GUI will not initialize

Sep 17, 2011 7:56AM PDT

I go to download an update, and it starts downloading fine, but as soon as the bar graph starts to indicate download speed, a popup box comes up stating that installer GUI failed to initialize. Regardless of whether I click OK or not, the software fails to install.

Answer
Two thoughts.

1. Without the name of the app or update any ideas are going to be bad guesses.
2. I see on google lots of open discussions about installer GUI failures.

followup: installer gui won't open.

Sorry, didn't think. I had downloaded the cnet tech tracker, and done an initial scan. The scan brought up a number of updates, and it was during my attempt to open updates downloaded from cnet following that scan that I keep getting the installer gui not initializing message. does that help?

There is a CNET Tech Tracker forum.

I shouldn't write this but no moderator admitted to using that app. It's probably why no moderator gets that error.

I'd report it in their forum at http://forums.cnet.com/techtracker-forum/

Sorry, just something I don't use. They didn't explain the benefit.
