I've been using TT on my other pcs win7 and vista with no problem. when I downloaded the software on my XP it didnt come up in the computers list, so I deleted the other computers and installed the TT again with no computers at all in the list and the webpage keeps telling me to download and install it! Win XP with all the current updates minus newest IE, couldnt install it on XP dont know why. I gave up, so I have IE8, firefox and safari Itried on all of these browsers doesnt make any difference the software manager does the scan and tells me there are 37 updates available and when I click My Software the webpage opens with this warning:
"Your CNET TechTracker account does not have any computers assigned to it. You must add a computer to your account in order to view scan results. To add a computer to your account, download and install CNET TechTracker on that computer.

Download CNET TechTracker now"

exact copy paste from the page!

A few thoughts...
Nov 29, 2010 9:57PM PST

1.) TechTracker does support Windows XP, so it's not a compatibility issue; it should work as expected.

2.) You mentioned you could not install the latest version of IE. I'm assuming you are referring to IE9 since you said you have IE8. IE9 requires Vista SP2 or higher, so as an XP user, you will be unable to upgrade Internet Explorer beyond what you already have. It should also be noted that IE9 has not been officially released yet - it's still in public testing.

3.) Browser issues can cause TechTracker to fail to associate the computer with your CNET account. One quick test is to set a different browser as your default browser; you can also reinstall TechTracker and restart your computer to go the extra mile. Then try running another TechTracker scan and clicking the link to view your results again.

4.) CNET offers free support to help resolve such issues; click here to submit a help request. You can find that page by following the "Customer Help Center" link at the bottom of any CNET page.

Hope this helps,
John

Win7 with same issue
Dec 1, 2010 12:35AM PST

I have already sent a help request through the email channels... no reply yet.

I had TT installed on two computers, WinXP at work and Win7 at home. All was good... until I replaced my work computer (XP) with a new Win7 PC. I installed TT on the new Win7 PC at work and it thinks it's still the old (XP) PC. It scans and tells me there are updates for the old PC. I have uninstalled it, removed computer from the account, reinstalled it, restarted several times along the way... when I scan it, it shows the programs from the old PC and doesn't display any programs on the new PC that was just scanned. I've followed all the guidance to add a new computer to my account... and can't. The old PC no longer shows in my account; however, it still scans (on the new PC) and gives results from the old PC. How do I get TT to realize this is a new PC?

...Cnet responded to messages submitted for support, but they don't. I have three messages in for the same issue and have had no response.
