Question

Installed new GPU, pc now shuts down randomly

Apr 19, 2017 10:11AM PDT

I just purchased a new gpu for my system and after running it for a bit I get a blue screen saying windows encountered and error and will restart. It doesn't restart. Drivers are updated fans are running, and the airflow is great. Also when playing on low video setting on csgo on my old gpu, I was getting close to 250 to 300 fps and then on the new one I was only getting around 100 on the same settings. Then the crashes started.

CP specs are:
Msi gtx 1070 gaming
Intel I5-3570k
16gb of ddr3 ram
Corsair hx750i psu
WD Hard drive
1 optical drive
Windows 10
ASRock z77 extreme4 motherboard

Thanks in advance for the help!

Old gpu was a gtx 670

Thank you, unfortunately I have tried all this and much more. I am probably going to bring it to a repair shop soon. Thank you again for the help though.

Speccy?

Sometimes I get lucky with that. Example? More than once I found a BIOS out of date and the maker writing the phrase "improve system stability." We know what that means. I am not writing this is a BIOS problem here. Just that a Speccy report helps find Waldo.

Answer
Equal power requirements

You went from 170w to a 150w, so not likely a problem with PSU or heat, more likely a driver problem, or as Rob mentioned, need of latest W10 compatible BIOS upgraded version.
