Installation problems of latest AVG free edition

by blipshitz / March 27, 2010 4:27 PM PDT

I've just downloaded the latest version of AVG free update file from CNET "avg_free_stb_all_9_114_cnet". During installation while the program is seeking for my internet connection it is giving me the message: AVG is not able to detect a working internet connection, please check if you are a connected to the internet and click retry (and if you have a proxy etc…).
Now – I'm connected to the internet all the time (this is how I downloaded the program update in the first place). I don't know what the problem is and I cannot seem to solve it.
Please help (if you can send me an e-mail to boaz.controller@gmail.com it would be great!
Thx a lot
Boaz

This didn't work for me. I keep getting the same error message saying the connection with update server has failed.

Hi,

there could be two different connection issues:

A) Previous "AVG is not able to detect a working internet connection,...", which is related with AVG installation process through AVG Download Manager blocked by used firewall

B) Yours "Connection with update server has failed", which is caused by some blocking of already installed AVG and its update process - mostly by some firewall, which is blocking "avgupd.exe" process

Could I ask you to upload the "avgupd.log" file in an archive to some favorite online storage for brief analysis?
The log file is stored in this folder*:

Windows XP/2000
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\avg9\log

Windows Vista/Seven
C:\ProgramData\AVG9\Log

You could send me the link (to the file) directly in an email - click on my profile and choose an option to send me an email.

Thank you

4. Click OK.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
