Question

Installation in progress forever

Oct 7, 2015 4:20PM PDT

Hi,

I'm trying to install Adobe After Effects CS5.5. The installation always fail no matter what because there is an installation in progress. I already restarted my pc. Check out my task manager if there is anything that looks like an installation in progress (no application in progress, only a lot in background). I also went into my key register to delete some key that could cause problem. I uninstall a bunch of program that i recently install and a lot of them wouldn't uninstall because there is already something installing. I checked my windows update, no update at the time. I created a new user and tried to install things and still no success...

I'm running a recent pc, with almost nothing on it but a bunch a software for school, games and basic software you need on any pc. It's on Windows 10.

Last thing i tried is to uninstall AVG AntiVirus, but I can't. There was an error that is probably related to that. I also precedently uninstall Adobe Acrobat Reader with the Adobe Cleaner because I couldn't uninstall it with the control panel.

I'm running out of solution here, and I want to make a video with a green screen ASAP, but that problem is affecting a lot of things on my pc it seems so please help me fix it.

Thanks a lot if you can find out what is going on

What do you mean by refreshing windows 10?

I saw on a site that you can boot windows into a minimal mode where it's impossible that an installation still run in background, but i couldn't understand how to do it. Are you talking about that?

Refresh.

Will reinstall windows without losing your data. I think you're talking about "safe mode" which will launch windows without background processes running. Google how to do that on your machine.

Why would i uninstall everything?
Oct 7, 2015 5:25PM PDT

You're asking me to delete everything on my pc...

I don't care about the files, they're all in my external drive. I don't want to uninstall everything and then reinstall everything that I had before, that will bring me to the same point I am now.

I'm searching for a solution to the error exit code 7 when installing CS5.5 After Effects that I didn't try.

Thanks

Nothing like a picture to say it all.

There are folk at Microsoft that for a price (suitcase of green?) will do surgery on an ailing Windows to save an app that is installed but it took me 5 minutes to reinstall a big app here (Visual Studio 200Cool so for me it's not any loss.

Yes I already read this page and I tried solution 2,3,4 and 7. I don't quite understand the others and how to do it. Here is the log of the error:

There are too many posts in the Adobe forums about it. Sorry but Adobe's answer is likely too old to support. When I read Microsoft 1.0.0.0 that was my sign it was very old.
