installation help please

hi, just tried installing xp on my new computer but i had the wrong product key as i have lost the correct disk for that key , i have a new version of windows vista coming its a UIF file(is this right?) how do i get the useless version of xp off my computer (its just stuck on the enter product key screen) and install the vista, this is my first time doing this so be gentle with me, many thanks

When you boot the Vista DVD...

It will offer to wipe the old system out or other. There is nothing to do before you get your Vista.
