Hello. I am trying to help a family member, who lives in another state, with PC issues. Her hard drive corrupted and needs to be reformatted (at least). However, I don't want her to do that since she wants to try to recover files on the drive.
I have a new hard drive I'd like to install Windows 7 on (her PC operating system), using her Product Key, and mail the drive to her. A friend of hers will install this new drive as the bootable drive, and the existing drive as a slave. This way, I can remotely access her PC on the new drive, and attempt to troubleshoot file recovery of the original drive in slave mode.
I know there are likely driver issues with me installing Windows using another PC and inserting it into hers, but besides that, is it impossible? Will it boot properly? As long as I can get her to boot the new drive and install Team Viewer, I should be able to handle the rest.
