Question

Install our IE9 application today!........

Jan 28, 2013 9:52AM PST
"Install our IE9 application today! Drag the tab above to your Windows Taskbar to pin!"

Above message appears intermittently when I am using my IE9.....it appears highlighted in yellow across the top of the page and freezes my machine for several seconds. Can someone tell me to what app this message refers and how to kill it.

My thanks....

Answer
Sounds like a home page hijack.

Did you look at the tabs you open for your home pages?

And again, why use IE since it's still open to such exploits?

,,,,and tabs O.K. I thought it might have something to do with this link from which you can make a site an app, but not sure enough to work with it to eliminate. That said, my most used sites are on my task bar.

Why don"t I use IE since it's still open to such exploits? Because it takes me forever to make changes. Happy

.....but I don't understand why you think it is something so serious. I feel it is a form of advertising along the lines of popups, which I do not allow. My NIS does not see any problem, nor do Malware and SAS free scans.

If it's just a pin issue.

You can always unpin. If it's more than that you have to dive in, scan and learn what nasty thing has decided to thrust itself onto your computer.

So it might not be malware, but still it's something you seem to want to get rid of.
In IE go into Tools>Manage add-ons and deactivate all you're not sure of. One of them might be this one.
