I prefer blank drives when I install an OS. http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/os-x-mountain-lion/id537386512?mt=12 and some reviews make me think I'd hang back a version or two
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OS_X and other places seem to say your average MacBook is OK.

I have an Early 2008 MacPro. I'm currently running Snow Leopard.
I bought a new 3T SATA drive for Mountain Lion. Can I purchase Mountain Lion and install it on the newly formatted 3T drive (ie: without installing an earlier OS first.)
Thanks,
