Question

Install Mountain Lion on new drive

Sep 24, 2012 9:24AM PDT

I have an Early 2008 MacPro. I'm currently running Snow Leopard.

I bought a new 3T SATA drive for Mountain Lion. Can I purchase Mountain Lion and install it on the newly formatted 3T drive (ie: without installing an earlier OS first.)

Thanks,

Install Mountain Lion on new drive
Sep 24, 2012 1:23PM PDT

Thanks, Bob. This is a MacPro, not a laptop. I'm assuming when I buy Mountain Lion, I'll get 10.8.2. Apple says "Mountain Lion Requirements: OS X 10.6.8", does this mean I need to install Snow Leopard first, or can I just begin with Mountain Lion.

Thanks,
- Rick

Yes, you install 10.6.8 first.
