Instal old drive in new computer

by darrellk12 / May 27, 2008 3:18 AM PDT

I am building a new computer and I would like to use the hard drive from my old system in the new one. Old computer OS is windows XP Pro.
Everything is new in the computer I am building and I would like to avoid re installing OS and all my programs. The old drive works fine. Can this be done? The drive in question is Western Digital 80 Gbyt
Thanks
Darrell

Probably not

Probably not is the answer to your question of can it be done. You can always try it, but the odds of success are slim. So, be prepared to have to reinstall everything, which means having backups of anything and everything important that you wouldn't want to lose.
