Inspiron 1720 upgarde memory 2 gig 667 to 4 gig 800 MHz ???

Oct 29, 2009 8:03PM PDT

Hi,

I want to upgrade memory on my Dell Inspiron 1720. Presently I have 2 X 1 gig DDR2-SDRAM (PC2-5300 / 667 MHz) and I want to upgrade to 2 X 2 gig DDR2-SDRAM (PC2-6400 / 800 MHz)

I have the last version of BIOS (A09) and on some Web site Memory retailer they say I'll put 800 MHz, other site only 667 MHZ and Dell propose on his Web site 800 MHz. But I remember first time I bought my laptop it only accept 667 MHz. It very confuse...

Can I put 800 MHz in this Laptop? If I bought 800 MHz do they work at this speed or only 667 MHz?

I wait for your answers.

Regards, baloor

You can put faster in and it runs at the speed set by the machine.

Not all sticks are compatible so be sure to go with Crucial or get your return policies known up front.

I don't do that.

Why? I don't have the time to lose if it doesn't work out. That's why I go back to crucial since they'll get it right or make it right or refund the dollars.
