inspiron 1420 harddrive problem

everytime i try to power on my laptop i keep getting a message that states "internal hard disk drive not found to resolve this issue try to reseat the drive."
i have tried to reseat the drive and still get the same message. no idea what to do. id appreciate it if someone could tell me if it can be fixed or if i need a new drive.

i have same problem and have tried 3 drives even 1 new one, dell 1420--
please help.

If a new drive doesn't work (and it works when used as an external drive or in another PC) it's time to start thinking about replacing the motherboard.

thank, i was afraid of that--it works fine in externial case hooked to usb
