Inspirion 1420 - Fn Lock

Nov 28, 2009 10:13PM PST

Hi...

I've been trying to find out how to lock the darn Fn button! I've tried like absolutely everything.

I have the Inspiron 14, can anyone help me? Its really annoying to have to keep pressing the Fn to do F1, F2 and so on...

This is just a bad design. I see that and the answer is to call Dell and get it exchanged for a model that has the right keyboard.

Ty for the advice!

I've found the answer though. You have to change the setting on BIOs... But I do think its a poorly thought design. Maybe there is a way to lock Fn and maybe I just haven't found out yet. But until then, I do think that they should've put a "manual" Fn lock feature.

Where did you find that?

I looked into this and came up empty!

And at first I wondered "what are they asking?" but as soon as I saw the heel of my hand hit my forehead and I heard the 'duh' sound.

Thanks for asking this one. That's an INCREDIBLE design decision that makes you wonder who thought that up.

I checked the online manual and didn't trip over the BIOS setting so my apology for not finding it and THANK YOU for telling what you found.
