Inserting Photos into a Word 2004 Doc?

Mar 5, 2010 3:40AM PST

How do I insert photos into a MS Word document and get the text to wrap around it, with a small buffer around the photo so the text isn't jammed against it, (like in iWeb). I though I found the answer in the myriad of word menus But I can't find it again. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
John

Insert the image into your document using the Formatting Palette > Add Objects. When you have the image in your document, select the image by clicking on it. Once selected, new options will appear in the palette, including Wrapping. You can choose various options, including setting the inset dimensions.

No text wrapping option
Jul 1, 2011 7:45AM PDT

I insert a picture into a word document, then selection. No option for text wrapping appears.
I see a drop-down menu that says, "My Work e-mail, My Work website," etc., but nowhere do I see anything about text wrapping. Can you help?
I am using MS Word 2004 on a mac running Snow Leopard v 10.6.7.

It is not intuitive but fairly simple.

Go to insert menu and select text box. A cross will appear instead of an arrow cursor and you draw a square text box. You can leave it with one paragraph mark or hit return to create another line to type in a legend under the inserted image. Then go back to the original line (make sure it has the right alignment), go to insert and select picture from file. Find the file and hit open in the dialog window. The picture will now be inserted into the text box. Then go to Format>text box, select "tight" in the first menu and then click on "advanced". Then deselect "allow overlap", and hit OK twice. Now you have the picture in the text box and the text of the document will be wrapped around the text box without overlapping.
Hope it helps.
