For this I've setup a desktop for the capture step. There's also a direct to dvd device that does do HD.
There is no firewire to USB cable. Any you find have just been a waste for folk's time and money and I will not write one more word about that. Don't want to waste your time or mine.

I need to find a way to take input from my digital video camera using a fire wire input and accept it into my desktop HP Pavilion in the form of USB 3 input. HP has already told me the computer cannot be fitted with a fire wire card. Is there a way possible to accomplish this using an external hard drive with fire wire input port and USB output port? I have been told that this isn't possible, but I have Photoshop Elements that I've used on a prior computer with a fire wire port that allows me to access the video and out put it in Photoshop format. Why Couldn't I do the same with an external drive, "massage" it with Photoshop Elements and send it to my desktop via the USB 3 port?
