Inkjet or Laserjet?

Nov 3, 2007 3:12PM PDT

I know that laserjets are usually discouraged for photo printing, but how about drawings/artwork? I'm in the market for a new color printer for a greeting card business I am starting up, and I need something capable of accurately printing high-quality colorful drawings, as well as well printing on card stock. I'd ideally like to go for a laserjet, but if there's a sizable disparity in the quality I can achieve I'll go with inkjet.

Also, does anyone have any specific models they'd recommend? I'd like to go with an HP for the simple fact that I have an inside man there and can get a good deal, but I'd like to hear any suggestions regardless of brand. I'd like to stay around $500 or less.

Thanks!

Joe

Tips to Reduce Printing Costs
Nov 8, 2007 8:51AM PST

Hi Joe,
There's an interesting article on a very closely related topic (Tips to Reduce Printing Costs), specifically comparing the costs, both obvious and hidden, of inkjets vs. laser printers.

It was Inc. Technology and can be found at http://technology.inc.com/hardware/articles/200704/printing.html

It's an excellent article on a rarely explored topic that I was interviewed for earlier this year.

The cool part is there are now a lot of great choices, HP and non-HP, for color laser printers in your price range.

Best wishes,
