Many people convert one of their old camera to an infrared capable camera, generally replacing the hot mirror filter in front of the sensor with another IR filter. There are different IR filters that you can choose to be installed inside your camera to achieve different visual effects. You can easily google online, there are a number of conversion services doing the conversion, costs about $500 or more. Not all cameras can be converted, eg. the Fuji S2pro.
There are IR filter that you can screw to the front of your lens to do IR photography but these filters are a pain to use. They block so much light that there is focusing problem and may need high ISO long exposure with a tripod. You will get better result from converting an old camera.
I am interested in purchasing a digital camera that has special ability or properties for infrared photography.
Can anyone recommend something to me? Has anyone on this group used one of these cameras?
Thanks for any advice or help!
