infra-red mac!

Dec 28, 2011 11:11AM PST

howdy! my friend's kid played with my keyboard for a bit while i wasn't looking, and now everything is stuck in 'infra-red' mode. all things that should be white are black and all things black are white. there's some other ultra-violet stuff going on too.. i've tried everything to fix it, but nothing seems to work.. any ideas? i tried system pref. display and appearance.. as well as the color synch utility... am i missing something?!!? thanks!

Technically

Technically that's inverse color. Infrared is an invisible (to humans) wavelength of light, which we perceive as heat, so infrared cameras display different temperatures on a scale from one color to another.

You do also want to pay attention to the bit above about making sure nothing else is checked, and that the "enhance contrast" slider is all the way to the left. I think it was an older version of Skype would change that setting, as I had a couple of units come to me at work with "distorted colors". It was evident right from the start it was a software issue since it only kicked in after the user's desktop started loading. I'm not positive it was Skype doing it, I never really spent a lot of time investigating it beyond finding out how to fix it... But figured it'd be worth mentioning since the kid was clearly quite the little explorer. We can only hope your friend encourages that kind of behavior, but maybe with just a little bit more supervision.
