Question

Information on TV tuners

May 4, 2012 7:38AM PDT

Hi

I donot have any cable connection or external antenna at home. Still if i wish to watch Free-to-Air channels on my laptop, which has Windows Vista, can i do it with the help of an external TV tuner which has been mentioned on my Laptop.
If yes, where can i get information about the specific ones.
Thank you

Answer
You didn't tell what information was needed.

Let's hope the question is not "What channels will I get" or "which is the best card?" Those can't be answered unless we get a few cards and test them at YOUR LOCATION.

I'd go two ways on this. Hauppauge or generic. Your choice.

Wht i meant was if there is no existing cable connection or Antenna....i.e., presently there is no source to watch channels on my TV.

In such situation, will a TV tuner connected to the laptop (with Windows Vista) be used to watch free-to-air channels on my Windows Media Centre?

If Yes then i would buy the ones you suggested.

Thx again for ur reply

With no antenna you will not be getting any OTA channels. Why must there be no antenna?

Also, why must it be on WMC?
