with an American gift card
So the question first: if you've already bought and redeemed an American gift card, and then discovered that the music you want is only in the Netherlands store, is there anyway to acquire that music? Or am I stuck?
OK, I know from listening to BOL and doing a quick search on the forums a couple of things:
1. Person in country A cannot buy music in country B Itunes store without going through Tor or some such and fooling the Itunes store into thinking that your IP is from that country.
2. If you buy a gift card from country B, Itunes will load that country's store when you redeem that card.
3. BOL hates DRM.
According to Itunes, they cannot sell music from country B in country A due to licensing restrictions. This makes some sense since you often can't even find CDs from foreign artists in US stores so it appears the same (nonsensical) rules apply.
I mean why do record companies care where their music is sold? It seems to me that global sales of music just means more money for the label, so they should want to maximize the availability of their artist's music. Unless there is some kind of law that doesn't allow foreign music labels to distribute their music in other countries...
Anyway, thanks for any help or info....
