Not necessarily. Passport is needed only if you would like to register/participate for an event.

Passport isn't required to search for the next schedule security bulletin or other MS event, you can use their search feature without entering any of your info Wink Example: Search for an event about Windows, Outlook, or by keywords - security bulletin, spam, service pack or other MS related topic.
