Informal poll

Apr 3, 2005 4:31AM PDT

Small rant: A lot of people note that Apple has about 5% of the market. They then ASSUME the the other 95% is Windows. Not entirely true. Some of those run Linux/Unix only(small %, probably), But an increasing amount of the others are running a dual-boot systems. With the improvements in Linux distros and add-on programs, I find myself only going back to Windows once a week to update my virus protection. No longer even need to go back to Windows for the added resolution in scanning and printing like I used to since I found ImageMagick to go with Gimp. Also don't print many hard copy photos any more. 30 years as a photographer down the drain(really just changed to digital and web-based). Got good burners.
Now to the poll. Is your time is Linux increasing?

Decreasing.

While I use it at home, my income is tied to the Wintel and PalmOS cartels.

As to photo work, there are still times film is the answer. Hint: low-light.

Actually, more factors than that.

Was a working pro in many areas, and a top commercial photo printer. Still don't think digital has the resolution of film. But my needs, and interest, changed.
I was thinking of your answer when first typing. Sometimes you aren't given the choice. chuck
