"info" button on the 52a850 question

Dec 3, 2008 10:28AM PST

With a component input the ?info? button on the remote doesn?t display the picture resolution, only the time. The picture itself is fine. The HDMI inputs display OK. Tried another device on the same component input and had the same result. Any help on this will be appreciated. Thanks

this is normal, the resolution is 1080, don't worry about seeing it displayed

I wouldn't say this is normal. I seen an 850 at CC with an input to component 1 and the "info" button on the remote returned a displayed resolution of 720 x 480p. No matter if what you're seeing is always 1080i the info button should still respond correctly. Dont worry abut it is not the answer I was looking for.

The answer he's looking for is the one that relates to the question "Why doesn't the info button display the resolution like I think it should?"

Service has seen this issue...
Dec 8, 2008 5:09AM PST

This issue has been replicated on our test models. I'm not sure why this happens, but I've been assured that this doesn't affect the picture quality whatsoever.

I'll be following up with our support team to find out why this issue is happening, but in the meantime, your television is in working condition as this doesn't affect the picture quality.

Stay tuned.

I'll stay tuned... Thanks for looking into this.
Is there a list of 'WHAT'S NEW" when new firmware is released? If not, are you privy to the changes? I heard of revs 1002 thru 1005 but don't know of all the addressed issues. Maybe you could pass this along also.

Escalated....
Dec 17, 2008 5:51AM PST

I've actually received a response to escalate this issue, so hopefully there will be a fix before long.

In the meantime, I do have SOME privy to the changes, but at this time, this particular issue is not addressed with a firmware update.

I will see what I can do. Happy
