General discussion

Infested by godaddy and valsoft

Dec 8, 2005 12:28AM PST

I have been infested by a pop-up program that appears to eminate from a web page godaddy.com. In the mix of pop-ups they appear to want to sell skytrooper and or spyguard. The mix also contains pages from valsoft.com,spyaxe.net and popentertain.com.
It seems to be extortion because they infer that if I purchased the products the infestation would disappear
which I rather doubt.
Does anyone know how one can delete this garbage.
Thanks in advance

Marlyn, More Information Please
Dec 8, 2005 1:21AM PST

Whenever posting questions on these forums, please give us as much information as possible about your computer. Depending on your issue, we might need the operating system, processor speed, amount of RAM installed, brand name of the computer, (if there is one), and any EXACT error messages you are receiving, and in your case, please tell us what steps you've already taken to remove it. The more information you give us, the better informed our answer will be.

Have you checked the Control Panel/Add-Remove Programs section to see if there are any unknown programs that you can uninstall from there?

In the meantime, because spyware needs special tools to clean things up, please download, install, update, then run ALL of the free spyware removal tools from the links below:

add the page to your "Favorites" list. It is a listing of ROGUE programs which you never want to download let alone pay for. You'll find the 2 you mentioned are there. It is reccommended to always check this list when considering any new anti-spyware/adware product before downloading it. Good reference tool. Spyware Warrior:

Thank you and Grif for the help. It was the suggestion by Grif that I use CW shredder which cleaned out the whole nest the problems that resided in the registry. And that was the only anti spyware that I did not have. That speaks eloquently for having a suite of programs. Again my thanks to you and Grif.
