iNetFormFiller: Spyware Included

May 16, 2005 7:43AM PDT

If you are thinking of downloading the FREE iNetFormFiller, from the Download.com site at Cnet, BEWARE! First, the full version is not FREE. What you get for free is a light version, which has embedded in it a program named Spyware.Polyfilter. My MS AntiSpyWare Beta, and Spybot, both identified that program as a Known Threat (a browser usage tracking program). Along with that, you also get all kinds of Adware, Banners, Popups, etc. You can get rid of the latter items, it is suggested, by purchasing the Full Version. The program is Difficult to Delete. I went at it 6 ways from Sunday before finally deleting all vestiges. I'm going to post a review at the Download site, and vow to never download another program which does not have Reviews or Ratings.
If you have downloaded this program (there were several thousand downloads), first scan for the spyware, then delete it after it has been identified. Disconnect from the Internet, and close all running programs, including firewall, antivirus, antispyware, browser, and anything else that is running other than those programs which are essential. Add/Delete Programs in my XP Home O.S. did not show the program. Run a GOOD search application, such as Agent Ransack; you'll be surprised (and dismayed) at the level of infiltration this booger has made. I had to manually delete every File, then the Folder, from C: and it did balk at that, initially.

Where To Report
May 16, 2005 9:06AM PDT

Thanks for your reply to my post. I am a newbie at Cnet and Download, and do see that I can report offensive postings, but to whom do I address a report regarding the (identified as) Spyware that came with my download of IENetFormFiller? I also don't like the fact that it was listed as FREE, as that was nothing but a come on.
Thanks,
