When it happened the first time, I did the steps above. And it worked!
Then it just updated again and I am back to where I was... I tried this fix a few times. Finally got adobe to give me some other options. They mentioned selecting the updated folder "Mappings" and changing the permisisions to read only... I can give you the details if you like.
This did not work either.
Seems they are no longer supporting this CS2 so we are out of luck for the "promised" fix as they state on cpsid_53468
Since this Acrobat update seems to only affect InDesign and Illustrator.
I wanted to know if I can just do an install of them? Or do I have to re install the entire suite?? (I installed them originally from the Suite Premium)
I have a Intel Macintosh 2.33 Intel Core 2 Duo
It is running System 10.4.1
I own Adobe Creative Suite cs2 premium with Acrobat 8.
I would advise anyone that has auto update turned on, to turn it off or it will happen to you too!
InDesign and Illustrator CS or CS2 fail to launch after applying the Mac OS X Acrobat 8.2 update.
Had client with this problem and heard about this fix.
Here it is:
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/534/cpsid_53468.html
ISSUE
InDesign and Illustrator CS or CS2 fail to launch after applying the Mac OS X Acrobat 8.2 update.
After launching either InDesign or Illustrator you see the following:
InDesign gives the following error: "Personalize your software and re-enter the serial".
InDesign or Illustrator, hang at the startup screen when "reading fonts".
SOLUTIONS
Solution 1
Replace the corresponding files present in the " /Library/Application Support/Adobe/TypeSpt/Unicode/Mappings/" folder with the one attached to this document.
1. Download the attached Mac.dmg file to a machine where the issue is seen.
2. Close all Adobe applications
3. Double Click the Mac.dmg file to mount it.
4. Copy Mac folder from mounted image. Paste it to /Library/ApplicationSupport/Adobe/TypeSpt/Unicode/Mappings/.
5. A message appears to confirm to replace the existing 'Mac' folder. Replace the 'Mac' folder.
6. Launch Illustrator or InDesign CS or CS 2.
NOTE -- They are referring to the ROOT level Library NOT the USER level Library.
