Incredimail XE: How can I revert to the previous version?

by rojas314 / April 21, 2006 12:37 AM PDT

Foolishly, I "upgraded" to Build 2206. Now, the Junk Mail Filter feature is no longer free ($39.95). Also, now the messages that I want, only open as attachments. This requires opening a new page.

How can I revert to the older version of Incredimail XE? I recveived no response from their "customer support." I have Windows XP. Thanx.

Uninstall and reinstall
by joesmithers06 / April 21, 2006 1:09 AM PDT

Just uninstall the current version and then reinstall the desired previous version. If you don't have a copy of the previous version installer, you'll have to go out in search of one.

This might also be an opportune time to try a different email client. Mozilla Thunderbird, for example, is the email client that more or less started the whole junk mail filter concept as it's generally known today. It's developed under an open source license, which to you means it, and all of it's features, will always be free. It also doesn't have the Fisher Price feel that Incredimail does.

Thanks for responding. I do not have a copy of the previous version installer. where can I find one? I searched CNET and the web for Incredimail XE, but I guess I need to be more specific. I don't know any other name or Build ID as they call them though.

If I uninstall/reinstall, will I lose all of my messaages?

I would consider switching. XE is very slow once you have a lot of messages stored. OE is much quicker, but lacks some features and has a smaller font. It does have anti-spam though.

The only features I would really miss besides the junk filter are the group lists and the 'bounce to sender' option. Does Thunderbird have these? Thanx.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
