OE comes with Internet Explorer automatically

Incredimail has lots of pitfalls to it, and I personally would avoid it.

OE is my personal email program and with a few tweaks to make it not only more user friendly, but more secure, there is no reason not to use it for your personal friends and family use. Get a free yahoo or hotmail account that you can use as a throw-away email address when you are on the net and get to a site that requires you to use an email address during registration. This will give you a legit email address for them, but it will keep lots of spam at the website where you check your hotmail or yahoo account and you can reply if need be using their site. This will even more protect your OE account as most people will only have it when you choose to give it to them......

And tell your friends and family to NOT forward jokes, email cards, and files to you unless you have requested them in advance.

What about finances online?

Great advice Toni! How about this: I have a third account strictly for secure information and billing transactions. Nothing else comes to that address.

Incredimail

Incredimail is alluring with its pretty stationery and various doodads, especially the little butler who delivers your mail, but (the free version at least) features adware. OE isn't as pretty but gets the job done.
