Question

Increased monitor size require upgraded graphics card?

Oct 17, 2016 8:41AM PDT

I received a large computer monitor (27 inch) and was excited to try it out until I plugged it all in.
The image is very grainy. The outlines of letters and icons is not sharp at all. My previous monitor (19 inch) did not have this issue. Games look grainy and cartoonish. I plugged the monitor into my ps3 to test it, and the image is great.
Currently I am running a 1 gb GeForce GT 520 video card with HDMI connection.
Also, when I go to video settings, the highest setting available is 1920 x 1080.
Will upgrading the video card to say a 2gb increase the resolution?

I've used a 520 class GPU on 1080p

Did you run it through the cleartype tuner and what monitor is this?

Also, as you increase the display size, you are magnifying pixels. At some point you need more pixels if you don't move the display back from you.

No I have not tried Cleartype tuner. I will try it when I get home from work. The monitor is an AOC i2721VH

How do you increase the number of pixels? Larger GPU?

Thanks

HDMI

I also tried with DVI and it is the same. I never knew about "cleartype tuner." That may do it. I just turned it on here on my work computer and it looks good.
