It's a good question and one you see from folk that are used to what they can do on a PC.

If you must do this, use HARDSUB (see google) to make them huge.

The TV is not a PC so options are limited. What I find interesting is that folk today are expecting a lot from their TVs. That is, web browsers that rival that of the PC or in your case, subtitle sizes that are beyond what is supplied in the set.

HARDSUB is a workaround for that.

Most subtitle systems are done with a "chip" that overlays that text. You can only get what text sizes that chip supplies. I can imagine those that don't know much about TV circuitry would think "oh, that's just a code change" and they would expect the maker to change or look into this.

I wanted you to know how to work around the limit.

Hi yaronnd,

Question for you: are your referring to subtitles for a particular app on the Smart Hub or from an outside video source or OTA TV?

Subs size
by Haris1977 / July 4, 2013 8:03 PM PDT

I agree with yarond. Subtitle size MUST be bigger in tv's allshare app (even the "big" option for subs is not big:()

So we need to use programms like hardsub to embed subtitles into the movie. The question is:

Is Samsung working on that or not??

I hate the answer about the hardsub. Any LG Smart TV enlarges subs. I took it for granted when i bought a samsung. I still can't believe Samsung hasn't already fix it.

I was a little surprised at the hate.

My thought was to find a way, any way out. Hardsub albeit hated was a way out.

Since Samsung rarely issues updates for areas like this (I have yet to see them do it once) what other solutions are there? And yes, we could hook up our PC and run VLC Player?

fi have solved it with my sasung f5000 led tv with easy way
use aviaddxsub software then adjust you subtitle size choose your font and color it will convert them into bitmaps
it will take about 1 to 3 minutes this if your file is avi
if other format conver your subtitle file into sub file they call vobsub
then merge it to your file with mkv merge software it will to 10 seconds and 2 minutswith mkv merge
it very usefunl

by the way samsung become very stuped tv at all the old models you can change the font size easle but the canceld it with new models

it is recomended to update your tv firmware
ih ope it is useful
