Incorrect download for AVG 9.0

Oct 17, 2009 10:25AM PDT

When I try to download AVG 9.0 (9.0.686) I get a file labeled avg_free_stb_all_8_37_cnet.exe instead of
avg_free_stf_90_686a1719.exe.

I download the correct file from Techspot

problem with download for AVG Free 9
Oct 27, 2009 9:34AM PDT

I had the same problem. But worse was to come. The download manager got stuck at the checking connectivity screen. Had to close it manually. Wouldn't progress any further on subsequent tries and then found I can't delete the download manager from my desktop (where CNET said to put it). Was trying to replace AVG Free 8.5 with AVG Free 9. Using XP Professional on a Toshiba laptop connected to internet via D-link card and BT Yahoo Internet/Homehub.
Wish now I'd just done what I did on my PC and just downloaded the new version, which deleted the old without any problems!
Anyway, any help to get rid of the unwanted download manager very much appreciated.
