Inconsistent Connection When Using Multiple Programs

by jstbuch / June 22, 2008 2:13 AM PDT

My wireless connection keeps dropping. It happens most when I am using two programs using the internet. For example, I am playing online poker and then I browse the internet at the same time. I will get disconnected regularly. I get disconnected sometimes but not as often while just browsing the internet. My wireless status icon doesn't ever say I am getting disconnected though. I have two roommates and the do not suffer from the same problem.

My laptop is brand new. It is a gateway M-1625. I am using comcast. Vista Home Premium. I believe our router is Apple E88cb4 but I am not 100 percent sure. It's in my roommates room. My wireless card is a Realtek RTL8187B Wireless 802.11b/g 54Mbps USB 2.0 Network Adapter. I have updated the drivers for it already.

Can anyone help?

1. SSID broadcasting.
2. WPA-PSK
3. Latest router firmware.

What's different?

Can you perhaps help me to figure out how to find that information? I am a rookie so be easy on me.

You could share where the manual is.

We could read it together. Remember no one is paid here. It's like you have a flat tire and I stopped to help. When you asked me what to do next I asked you to go get the spare tire.

Is that condescending?
