In Toronto, West of Yonge and University Streets

on King Street there was for a while what you might call a full-service area. On one corner was Knox Presbyterian Church, on another Upper Canada College, an exclusive boys Prep school. On a third there was a rather large Drinking Establishment, and on the fourth was a brothel.

The corner was known as Education, Exaltation, Inebriation, and Fornication. Ah, the 19th Century when much that is hidden now was in the open then.
