In need of help with my laptop that has an hard disk problem

by Arunkmr / July 21, 2011 11:57 PM PDT

My Dell Inspiron 1564 is just 1 month old and is facing a severe hard disk problem.. Booting takes almost 7 minutes or forever.. and the hard disk light is always on.. which as i know is a clear indication of continuous hard disk activity.. I tried booting with Ubuntu and got the same result when the system tried to read the hard disk.. My guess is that there is some sort of problem with the hard disk.. and tried running disk check utilities which also make the indicator glow forever and the process also took more time than what i was free for (I am a student and have classes and studies to attend to).. What could be the problem..?Any suggestions before i hit the service center because its far away..

If it is that new then it should fall under the manufacturers warranty, I'd be giving them a call.
